About me
Marti Nikko grew up immersed in music as the daughter of a jazz pianist, spending her early years in nightclubs soaking in the soul of jazz and performance. With a warm, expressive voice rooted in jazz and soul, she began performing her own music early on. Shortly after high school, she met DJ Drez, sparking a creative partnership that has evolved over two decades into a unique musical language that blends hip hop, kirtan, reggae, jazz, and mantra. Marti’s vocals are featured across many of Drez’s albums, including their celebrated works Dreaming in Sanskrit, Explorers of Infinity, and Dreaming in Sanskrit: Verse Two. Alongside her music, Marti teaches yoga and Pilates both globally and in the Bay Area.
